Old Town | Real Estate & Homes for Sale Real Estate

When people around the globe envision Park City, the immediate image is of Old Town’s hilly residential and commercial district. Comprised of a variety of neighborhoods dating back to the 1868 discovery of silver in the surrounding hillsides by soldiers, Old Town encompasses Historic Main Street and its shops, restaurants, lodging and neighborhoods featuring actual cabins built by miners in the late 1800s, many of which were meant to be temporary (expect slanted floors and single-story dwellings, some with the original windows, complete with wavy glass). A fair amount of these Old Town miner shacks have been renovated, turning the original one floor into three or four, while new construction also abounds on seemingly tiny, unbuildable lots, where buildings pay respectful homage to their surrounding historic homes. Because of its National Historic District status, the city’s Historic District Commission closely regulates all renovations, restorations and new construction, ensuring the area retains the architectural integrity of Park City’s origins. The district boast dozens of homes and businesses listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Blue Church Lodge, and St. Mary’s Catholic and St. Luke’s Episcopal churches – both of which are still used for regular services. Old Town Real Estate also offers condos and townhomes that are readily available, especially along Park Avenue as one heads toward City Park.
